Although all good lifecasters must also possess sculpting skills, I love sculpting in its own right. Lifecasting captures what's real, but sculpting allows me the pleasure of taking reality to the realms of fantasy. I work from life models or clients' photos as a starting point, and then at some point the piece will become something rather less human. The idea of the human-animal chymera has been a part of art since the dawn of man. My work with pregnant women, and my own pregnancy has led me to marvel at the animalistic part of us that takes over - in birth, death, love, even war. Some of the sculptures shown below are for sale either as one-off ceramics or limited edition bronze sculptures. Please enquire for further details. |
